4 OSC Sample Synth with Sample LFOs and Mod Matrix
Wavesphere is not another Rompler (not that there is anything wrong with them) but a synth with an open back end so you can use your own waves for both oscillators and as modulation sources. Wavesphere owes far more to early digital synths and samplers than to any modern sample bank player or even virtual analog - think PPG Wave, EMU Emulator/Emax or Korg DW8000. Wavesphere is not an emulation of any of these instruments but a sound designers tool that combimes 4 sampled waveforms & analog filters with the same sort of spirit found in these much loved and lamented instruments.
The addition of 4 sample based modulators puts Wavesphere into a league of it's own. Imagine modulating the pitch of your static string sound with a running stream to make a beautifully organic pitch variation for a floating pad. Then imagine frequency modulating that string sample by a human choir that is enveloped and sliding across 8 octaves. Sound like fun? Well it is and Wavesphere lets you do all that and more.
